Assalamu Alaikum All

Alhumdulillah, another week has past, and I got my first paycheck for this job! That is always exciting for me. My kids came home last Friday from Florida and were so excited to tell us where they went. Finally my house is not so empty and the sound of laughter is back... They did have a wonderful time on the beach, visiting the space center, Waterworld, ect. This week we have been gently getting them back into the home routine: practicing Arabic, learning Quran, doing chores, keeping their room clean and all that other horrible stuff that parents make kids do, but they are getting use to it again.

Heh, I was called a dare devil?!? The farmer sold his pastures behind our subdivision and a new subdivision is slowly being built. Right now, it is a big barren area of dirt, with occasional roads and only about 3 houses half built, so it is a magnet for kids with dirt bikes. I grabbed my mountain bike, with my kids and a neighbor's kid and decided to see what the excitement was about. We rode up and down hills, across eroded areas, and created our own trails out there. There was a very steep hill and I took off down it, only to hear the tires behind me skid to a stop. That's when my neighbor's son yelled "Wow, your dad's a dare devil" They waited to see if I lived to reach the bottom, and then hesitantly followed me down. After that, I let one of the kids lead so I wouldn't put them in that situation again, but they realized that they didn't have to take it easy on the "old man" in the group! All in all, we had a lot of fun!

Alhumdulillah, my last final was Monday, and I waited to see what my "semester" grade would be. Alhumdulillah, I did well. She smiled while handing back my written work form my last speech. As I was walking up to get it, she said "Safe Surfing!" using her best valley girl accent.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Assalamu alaikum

Alhumdulillah, one class is over now, and all I have is a Speech final on Monday. Alhumdulillah, I did well on my speech exam, and speech on Spyware. I feel good about my paper (with the topic Does the President have the right and duty to lead the war on international terrorism?) I'm not sure that the teacher will agree with my viewpoints, but he said what was most important is that I defend my argument with facts, which was pretty easy... Finally, I had my American Government final today and think I did reasonable. I never know with these classes because too often the only right answer is the professor's opinion. InshaAllah I get good marks, not having been in school for over 9 years. (somehow that makes me feel old, so I'm going to stop thinking about it now)

We have to do surveys for our speeches, and someone asked for ages on their survey. Another student stood up and asked who the old guy was (me), so I responded "Me, I'm guess I'm the old man". A young lady came to my defense saying in a flirth way that I didn't look or act like an old man. Wow, she knows how to build a guy's ego :D Of course I went home and told my wife about this, embelishing considerably. I still can't get her to fall for it and make her jealous. Humph. Heh, won't they be surprised if they have me for a teacher in the fall (If I can get the night-time teaching job...)

I miss my kids!!! InshaAllah, they will be home tonight or tomorrow. I know they are having fun travelling with my parents, but it's been two weeks now and the house is still too quiet. On the other hand, our little one is going through a stage of wanting to be held constantly. I didn't get as much study time in because it is so fun to hold him and rock him.

Anyway, back to work... Hope everyone has a happy Friday and good weekend!

Assalamu Alaikum All!!

Alhumduillah, my job as the Masjid is going well so far. There is a lot of work to do, which is wonderful for me! I get to prove my value and willingness to work. There is one person left to be interviewed on Friday, and MashaAllah her resume looked very impressive! A teacher for five years in Math and Science and someone who as gone out of her way to help educate the community regarding Islam through public speaking at Churches, committees... So I will get the official notice next week after the School Board meeting this Sunday. Insha Allah, I will get to stay here.

YEA, one more week of class, but it is another stressful week! In government I have a term paper due Tuesday, and Final on Thursday. In Speech, test on Monday, and speech on Wednesday. I have to prepare more for my speech. Last time, I did Gender equality in Islam, was suspose to last 4-6 minutes, and I stayed up there for almost 10 minutes, lost my reference causing me to stumble, and skipped two complete sections. I apologized to the professor afterwards, and she said she would be lenient since she let us out 45minutes early anyway....

My son is so cute, I was almost late for work because I was snuggling with him while rocking. He is fussy today, and after all that fussing while rocking him he fell asleep and had the cutest smile while he was sleeping! I miss my two older sons! My parents took them to Florida for two weeks. The house is quieter so I can study more, but it seems like the house is too quiet now without their constant laughter and chattering.

Assalamu alaikum

JazakAllah for all the duas! I regret having been quiet so long, and having to remain that way into the near future :-(.

Here is a quick update for me, if anyone happens by in spite of my prolonged silence... Our new son is so delightful that I don't have the word to describe him, Alhumdulillah he is such a joy.

I am taking intensive classes this summer. They are actually college freshman classes, but I am cramming two of them into a 5 week period: Public speaking (fun), and American government (bleh). Alhumdulillah, I got an A on my first test and speech on Rappelling, but I have midterm, a test, and a speech over the next three days. (The whole "semester" has been this way). These are two classes that my state seems to think I need in order to teach...

Heh, get to start a new part-time job tomorrow at the Masjid, and have a 90% chance of being the new middle-school math teacher at the Madressa! Alhumdulillah, I am so excited about this! Finals weeks it in two weeks, and I am behind in government :$.
